Filippo is a graduate of Computer Science from the University of Milano-Bicocca. He completed his MSc thesis during a HPC-Europa2 period at EPCC. The focus was on an early implementation of a MPI-OpenMP kernel inside the Quantum ESPRESSO suite. After that, he continued to collaborate with CINECA and he did a small contribution on PRACE project (D6.6 "Report on petascale software libraries and programming models"). He also spent one year (August 2009 - June 2010) in Milan working on Grid Computing at the National Institute of Nuclear Physics, first as a member of the EUAsiaGrid project and then as a junior developer inside CMS collaboration.
During the last 6 months, he was part of a research/development group at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. The research project was about a C++ parallel software for basin simulation and modeling. His tasks concerned the implementation and optimization of different numerical kernels and a contribution on the overall design of the software.
His research activities and scientific interests are about the Mixed Parallel Programming, GP-GPU computing and algorithms/applications for petascale systems.
