Kashif received his bachelor degree in IT from National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan (March 2000 – April 2004). During his undergraduate studies at NUST School of Electrical Enginerring & Computer Science, he worked as a junior researcher in the research lab associated with CERN. His proposal based on his research at NIIT was selected among the top three research proposals in young scientist program at Forum Engelberg (March 2004), Luzern, Switzerland.
Before joining ICHEC, he worked as a researcher and part-time PhD candidate at Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI), NUI Galway from July 2004 to October 2008. At DERI, he carried out his research in conjunction with following EU funded research projects: Adaptive Services Grid (FP6-IST-2.3.2.3-004617) and ECOSPACE (FP6-IST-5-35208). His research interests mainly included semantic enabled service discovery and registry/indexing services, development and evaluation of software architectures for collaborative work environments. His publications can be found at DBLP.
He joined ICHEC in November 2008 as a software developer, where he will be working under the e-INIS initiative. His main responsibilities include the design and development of a problem-solving environment for the Bioinformatics community in Ireland.
