Dear ICHEC users,
We are pleased to announce that our IBM cluster 1350 (
walton.ichec.ie) is now open for general access.
Basic information about how to log on Walton, transfer files, compile your code and submit jobs can be found in our user documentation at
http://www.ichec.ie/user_documentation
A number of application packages are currently being installed and configured on this system. We are hopeful to complete the installation of the remaining packages by the end of the month. For further information, see
http://www.ichec.ie/software or contact the ICHEC helpdesk at
https://www.ichec.ie/helpdesk/
All compute jobs have to be submitted via a batch system (PBS, like on the shared memory system "Hamilton"). Details of our scheduling policy on walton can be found at
http://www.ichec.ie/scheduling_policy
Preliminary benchmark studies suggest a reasonable scalability of lattice-based MPI applications to 64 CPUs and beyond. Obviously scalability properties will vary depending on the characteristics of your code. We would recommend that you take advantage of the availability of this system to perform a basic scalability study of your application before embarking on large scale production runs.
Good luck with your work!
