Events

ICHEC has built up a strong record of delivering supercomputing related material and 3D scientific content at various events. These include the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition and Culture Night where demonstrations related to climate and weather have been presented.

Culture Night 2012

A 2012 Culture Night event was held in the Dunsink Observatory in association with the Dublin Institute of Advanced Studies. Over 800 adults and children watched 3D demos of weather prediction using the HARMONIE model (the same model used by Met Éireann to forecast the weather daily).

BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) 2013

The BTYSTE 2013 was held from the 10th to 12th of January in the RDS, Dublin. The event was attended by over 45,000 primary and secondary students from all across Ireland. Over 200 schools visited the ICHEC stand to understand the utility of supercomputering. More details of ICHEC at the exhibition can be found here.
