Scalability Tests on Stokes

Posted on 15 April 2010

In addition to vital routine maintenance the recent downtime afforded the chance to test some codes on Stokes at scales beyond those normally available via the standard queuing mechanism.

The results of the largest of these tests showed near linear scaling (90% approx.) across 2048 cores. Confirming the good scalability of the Stokes system. The test results will be important in the preparation of future applications for access to very large systems in the US and Europe for the researcher concerned.

If you are an ICHEC user and think you may also benefit from such large scale tests ICHEC will endeavour to accommodate you on a best effort basis as part of scheduled downtimes. However as downtimes are rare events and maintenance and testing must take priority it is important that you get in contact in good time.
