ICHEC mail #3

Posted: 2005-09-23

Dear ICHEC users,

We would like to inform you that the user service on the IBM cluster (Walton) will be suspended on Monday 26 October from 15:00 until 20:00. This downtime is required to replace some networking cards on the GPFS servers, change some networking parameters, and run a series of tests to check that the above operations have been carried out successfully. These changes will improve the overall performance of the cluster.

Note that you will be unable to log on Walton over this period. Queued jobs will not be affected (they will remain in the queueing system), but we are afraid any jobs still running on Monday at 15:00 will be killed.

The shared memory system (Hamilton) will not be affected by this downtime. See the ICHEC systems status page form further information.

Apologies for the inconvenience.
