ICHEC Mail #44

Posted: 2009-12-21

Dear ICHEC users,

Contents:
1. Christmas Arrangements
2. DECI Workshop
3. Phishing

------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Christmas Holiday Arrangements
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ICHEC will be closed for the Christmas holidays on the 24th and will
reopen on the 5th of January.

To allow users to make the most of the systems over the holiday period
resource accounting will be disabled between 17:00 Dec 23 and 09:00 Jan 5.
Jobs will still need to specify a valid account but the account won't be
charged for the hours used. We will also adjust certain limits to allow
users to use a larger proportion of the systems if demand is low.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 DECI Workshop
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ICHEC will host a brief 1-2 hour Workshop on the DEISA Extreme
Computing Initiative (DECI) at its Dublin offices on January 7th
at 10:00. The DECI call for proposals is aimed at production science
with awards in excess of 1 million core hours on many of Europe's
leading HPC centres. If you are interested in applying we would
strongly urge you to attend.

Personnel from the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre who have past
experience with DECI will join us to give their insights into the
process. For more information on DECI see: http://www.deisa.eu/science/deci/a>
For directions see:
https://www.ichec.ie/about_us/contact.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 Phishing
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Should you receive email or phone contact from anyone purporting to
represent ICHEC asking for your login details you should NOT disclose
them, as it may be an attempt to gain unauthorised access. Instead
report the incident to us at info@ichec.ie

------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ICHEC Team would like to take this chance to thank you for your
support during 2009 and wish you a happy Christmas and a prosperous
New Year.
