Title:Surface science: Seeing the spin through
Authors:Stefano Sanvito, 2010
Abstract: Interfaces can have quite different properties from those of their constituent materials. But it's surprising that the adsorption of a single organic molecule onto a magnetic surface can drastically modify that surface's magnetism. Traditionally, magnetism and organic chemistry have not shared the same laboratory. In recent years, however, the two disciplines have become closer to each other as interest has blossomed in studying organic molecules as a transport medium for electronic spins.
