Education

Eoin studied Engineering at NUI Galway initially through the Undenominated Engineering stream before specialising in Electronic and Computer Engineering graduating with first class honours in 2002. During his college years he was a very active member of NUI Galway Computer Society (Compsoc) where he developed many of the computer systems skills he still uses daily today.

Professional Experience

After graduating he worked in a variety of roles for Intel Ireland and MCS (now part of the Wood Group) as both a software developer and systems administrator.

In September 2005 Eoin joined ICHEC just as the centre's first HPC systems Walton and Hamilton were being commissioned and he's been heavily involved in the commissioning and operation of HPC resources nationally since. He represents ICHEC in the operational work activities of the PRACE Horizon 2020 project coordinating the AAAI sub-task for the entire project.

Eoin also spent time on secondment from ICHEC to EPCC at the University of Edinburgh providing his expertise during the commissioning of Phase 1 of the HECToR national service in the UK.
