Pablo Suárez Vietes

Quantum Computational Scientist
091 39 7786

Pablo holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Santiago de Compostela. The completion of a Bachelor thesis in the area of computational physics led him to study a MSc in Mathematical Modelling, Statistics and Computation at the University of Basque Country. During his MSc studies, Pablo started to work in a start-up in Madrid as a quantum algorithm researcher, where he had the opportunity to gain knowledge in areas like binary quadratic optimisation using quantum annealers, variational algorithms for quantum machine learning and quantum software in general. Combining his knowledge in quantum computing with the machine learning concepts studied on his masters, Pablo completed his master thesis “Meta-Learning Digitized-Counterdiabatic Quantum Optimization”, where recurrent neural networks are used to find suitable initial parameters for the DC-QAOA algorithm. Since October 2022 Pablo works in ICHEC doing research on quantum machine learning, mostly applied to Natural Language Processing.
Apart from work, Pablo likes to play all kinds of sports, especially water polo and cycling. He also likes electronic music, playing chess and reading anything he can get his hands on (lately he is more and more interested in history). As soon as the opportunity arises, Pablo takes the tent and goes on a trip on foot, by hitchhiking or by bike.
