Ireland one of five sites selected by the EU to host new world-class supercomputer
The Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) is delighted to announce that it has been successful in a competitive European-wide bid for a mid-range supercomputer following a call launched in December 2021. The countries chosen to operate the next generation of EUROHPC supercomputers are Germany, Hungary, Greece, Ireland and Poland.
Commenting on the successful bid Prof. J-C Desplat, ICHEC Director, said;
“This new mid-range supercomputer will bring Irish Research into a new dimension in scientific advancement. It will provide a national competence development platform for both numerical modelling and for the next generation of data-centric techniques and platforms and, as such, accelerate the adoption of powerful new hybrid techniques embedding machine learning within mainstream computational science models and Grand Challenges. I would like to congratulate all my colleagues for their work and support in this successful bid.”
