Ascent: Access to EuroHPC
The Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) is inviting Expressions of Interest for Ascent – Access to EuroHPC, a new programme supporting Irish researchers in accessing Europe’s most powerful supercomputing resources. Ascent provides tailored, hands-on support to help researchers scale their computational workflows and prepare competitive applications for EuroHPC Tier-0 access. Participants will benefit from guidance on system selection, access processes, performance optimisation, and proposal development. The programme is aimed at researchers already using HPC who are ready to scale to larger systems and apply to EuroHPC Regular or Extreme Scale calls. Expressions of Interest close on 31 May 2026, offering a valuable opportunity to advance research through world-class HPC resources.
The Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for Ascent, a programme supporting Irish researchers in securing access to Europe’s largest supercomputing systems through the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.
Ascent provides hands-on technical and proposal support to help researchers scale their workflows, optimise performance, and prepare competitive applications for EuroHPC Tier-0 access (www.eurohpc-ju.europa.eu/supercomputers/our-supercomputers_en).
The Programme
Ascent offers project-specific support to strengthen applications to EuroHPC access calls, including benchmarking, performance analysis, and proposal development ahead of submission.
Participants receive dedicated support from ICHEC based on their project needs, including:
- Guidance on selecting appropriate EuroHPC systems
- Navigation of access processes, infrastructure, and documentation
- Performance scaling tests, profiling, benchmarking, and optimisation
- Development of competitive applications for EuroHPC access calls
Who Should Apply?
Ascent is intended for researchers who:
- Currently use HPC resources and want to scale to Tier-0 systems
- Are planning to apply to EuroHPC Regular or Extreme Scale Access calls
- Would benefit from performance engineering and proposal support
